Tooth Colored Fillings
Tooth Colored Fillings are made by combining fine glass with plastic particles. The color is matched to your existing tooth color so that they blend in when you smile.
You can expect your fillings to last between 10 – 12 years. Tooth Colored Fillings are not affected by whiteners, but patients should be aware that if teeth are whiten the existing fillings may not match.
It is a myth that tooth colored fillings are not as durable as amalgam or silver fillings. The resin material that is being used now is just as strong, or better than traditional fillings.
It typically takes about 10 – 15 minutes to fill a tooth. If shallow, many patients prefer to go without pain or numbing medication.
Remember … keep your regular annual dental appointments and get those teeth filled before a cavity has the chance to enlarge!
